On Tuesday May 21 Marjorie Burke, co-author of the book Melting Ice ~ Shifting Sand, which she wrote with her husband Donald, will present A Conversation About Alzheimer’s in the Deerfield Community Church Great Room from 6-8 pm.
Marjorie will share her story as the primary caregiver for Donald, who lived with Alzheimer’s for many years. She supported him in their home for six years, and then they transitioned to a new relationship when he moved to a memory care facility.
Her book Pilgrimage on Ice and Sand continues to follow their journey, this time only through Marjorie’s voice, after it was no longer safe for Donald to remain living at home.
She will speak about her experiences with Alzheimer’s as a caregiver and the spouse of an assisted living resident, and the decision making process along the way. There will be plenty of time for questions from the audience. RSVPs would be appreciated (463-7002 or firstname.lastname@example.org), but walk-ins will be welcome. There is no charge to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
